My Vegetarian Adventure

Today I decided to branch out and try a new cuisine. I met a small group over at the Cosmic Cafe, a vegetarian restaurant.  I'm big on Mexican food so this was a step outside of the box for me.  Well let's just say this little adventure has set me back 50 feet.  I don't think I want to branch out for a while now...lol.    I had what was called Buddah's Delight.  It consisted of rice, curried vegetables (okra and potatoes),  dahl (lentil soup), samosa (fried pastry with potatoes and onions inside), pappadam (the flat tortilla), and nan (pita bread).

First of all I liked the funky little decor and color on the walls.  It gave it a bohemian-like vibe when you walked in.  I think it used to be a house that they converted into a restaurant.  The only thing I really liked on my plate was the rice.....lol....ok well the puffed pastry thing with the potatoes inside was decent.  I don't like okra, so no amount of curry sauce on there was gonna do the trick for me. I didn't really care for the flat tortilla. It tasted like it was fried in onion oil or something.  The dipping sauces contained some anonoymous spices that my taste-buds didn't identify with.  To my surprise I was the only one that didn't clean my plate.  Either the others really liked their food, were really hungry, or just wanted to get their money's worth.  Who knows, but the pita bread and water had me full...lol.  They had some kind of teas available but I was pushing it just trying what was on my plate. My meal was like $9.00 so it wasn't too pricey.

I started a little no meat kick this week that I plan to stick with until the end of the year. We'll see how long I can go before the tacos and chicken wings start calling my name....and on that note, I'm out.

They had a patio out front

Don't know if I could go the full vegetarian route, but you've made this dish look and sound kinda tempting....

I'm trying get away from some of the greasy fast-food that I've been eating lately and adopt a healthier diet. We'll see if I can make it to the end of the year because Taco Bell is my spot..lol. I think you should give it a try for a week, you might like it. :-)

I dabbled into the vegetarian lifestyle back in June, when I went the entire month without eating meat. I won't be doing that again anytime soon. Now I've taken the attitude that bacon is a vegetable.

That food, didn't sound too good. I even like okra.......preferably fried, but I like it nonetheless and I still wouldn't have eaten what you were eating.

Surely they had something on the menu that was appetizing?!?

Next time......go to Pizza Hut, the foods better there.

@ Reggie...yeah the rice and bread was all I ate...LOL...I started to get the black-bean burger but when she said it was $8.50 and didn't come with anything else I was like ummmm nahhh cause if I don't like it I'm just stuck out there, no fries or nothing..lol

Kandia I tried a black bean and corn burger in June when I went meatless. And you know what?!? It tasted like black beans and corn and not beef.

So the black bean burger didn't do it for ya huh? lol

Well right now I'm doing the veggie meat..the MorningStar brand. I made some chicken alfredo the other day and it actually tasted like chicken...well pretty close. Don't give up on it Reggie...keep hope alive. LOL!!

I am hardly a vegetarian, but your meal actually sounded delicious! I have samosas all the time at African restaurants.

@Daij....I've been meaning to try the African cuisine and see if it was something I would like.

Your Happy Word is "Bliss"
You are happy because you don't need a lot to be content. You experience happiness in the best and worst of times.
You see the divine in everything. You believe that every moment, person, and creature is unique and special.

You are an oasis of calm in this chaotic world. You never lose your head.
You can feel totally elated and exuberant from the smallest pleasures. You don't hold back when it comes to ecstasy.
